Horse Gram Rasam ( Ulava Charu)



Ingredients :


Horse Gram (Ulavalu) : 1 cup
Tamarind paste : 2 tbsp
Crushed Garlic cloves : 5
Cinnamon stick powder : 1/2 tbsp
Cloves powder : 1/2 tbsp
Pepper powder : 1/2 tbsp
Cumin powder : 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric : 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder : 1 tbsp
Dry red chillies : 2
salt to taste
Cilantro
Curry leaves
Oil


Method :


. Soak the Horse Gram over night  and presser cook  the 
  soaked Horse Gram with 8 glass of water, up to 6 - 7 
  whistles.



. In a  bowl strain the liquid and take 1/2 cup of cooked horse
  gram in a separate bowl, make a paste with one cup of 
  horse gram  water.



. Now take the Horse Gram paste mix it with boiled horse
  gram water.


. Heat a pan add oil, Mustard seeds splutter them, Now add 
  Red Chillies, Crushed Garlic, curry leaves, cinnamon
  powder, clove powder, pepper powder, cumin powder
  coriander powder and turmeric fry for few seconds.



. Add the Horse Gram paste water, Tamarind paste and Salt
 mix it well and cook 20- 25 minutes in a low flame, till like a 
 thick soup.



. At last Garnish with Cilantro and Butter or Cream.



. Serve with hot Rice. It's good in Winter.
